
Purpose: To pattern their lives after Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. The Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) is a community of Roman Catholic men and women, married or single; it is a religious order of lay people.
Responsibilities: To develop a spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood with other Franciscans. To support the parish and ministries that serve the needs of the poor and disenfranchised.
Time Commitment: An hour per month, classes or member gatherings.
Meeting Frequency and Time: Other time obligations include daily prayers, sacred readings, frequent attendance at Mass and a simplification of one’s life.
Additional Time Requirements: St. Francis devoted his life to working among the poor. Secular Franciscans help in their communities where needed.
